Hoptroff Wrapped: 2024 in review

2024 has been another exceptional year for Hoptroff, marked by significant product developments, industry-leading innovations, and the strengthening of new and existing commercial partnerships. We also made meaningful contributions to discussions at global events and in the media, underscoring the increasing impact of time synchronisation across digital infrastructure.

As the year draws to a close, we want to reflect upon our work in 2024 and look forward to what the new year holds.

Events and Thought Leadership

Throughout the year, Hoptroff has been at the forefront of global discussions about time, technology and innovation. We were delighted to participate again this year in the Grow London Global initiative, a platform backed by the Mayor of London that fosters international collaboration and innovation. Nancy Scott represented Hoptroff and London's fintech sector on a trade mission to Frankfurt and Zurich, furthering our commitment to global partnerships and knowledge exchange.

More highlights included participating in STAC and ITSF global events, Senior Product Manager Robert Lindaur presenting at the Workshop on Synchronisation and Timing Systems (WSTS) in San Diego, and Founder and CTO Richard Hoptroff joining the panel on Commercialising Quantum Global 2024 in London hosted by Economist Impact Events.

Major media outlets sought Richard's expertise on time, which saw him contribute to a daylight savings time discussion on Times Radio and reflect on how the World Wars forged modern time in City AM.

Further podcast and media appearances include the IBM Banking on the Cloud Podcast and Digital Frontier's The Dispatch alongside the UK Space Agency and Royal Greenwich Observatory. In these discussions, we delved into a range of topics, from moon-time coordination to data integrity protection, showcasing our expertise and the diverse applications of our time synchronisation technology.

Hoptroff also contributed to industry discourse on regulatory topics, demonstrating our unique role in thought leadership. Our prominence in pieces about the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA), with in-depth articles in Retail Banker International and Insurtech Digital, explored the cybersecurity implications for financial services.

Product and Software Launches

2024 was a pivotal year that proved the necessity of the time-as-a-service model that Hoptroff has pioneered.

Global instability continued to heighten cybersecurity concerns, and the rapid pace of technological innovation put further pressure on digital infrastructure. As a result, organisations across sectors increasingly need flexible, reliable and accurate time solutions that allow them to focus on core business operations.

Earlier this year, Hoptroff launched a comprehensive Software offering as a central hub to manage time across clients' entire digital estates and instantly download regulation-compliant reports. Building on this momentum, we recently introduced a new Certified Time product, providing the market's most affordable time solution for organisations with precise timing requirements ton one-millisecond.

Perhaps most excitingly, we've been developing our Sub Nano product, which promises to deliver the highest precision timing commercially available, with further news to come in early 2025.

New Partnerships and Clients

Our growth trajectory has been marked by expanded support across critical industries worldwide, including banking and finance, navigation, logistics, cybersecurity, AI, and telecommunications.

Some of our public achievements include:

Looking Forward to 2025

Reflecting on 2024, we're excited about the challenges and opportunities ahead. The exponential growth of digital data, driven partly by AI advancements, underscores the increasing importance of precise timekeeping. Today, metadata governance is crucial in ordering global events and will only continue to rise in importance.

Cybersecurity remains a critical focus, especially as geopolitical complexities continue to emerge. The increasing regulatory landscape, particularly to protect national critical infrastructure, reinforces the vital role of accurate timing technologies.

Perhaps most dramatically, as humanity continues to explore space, our collective understanding of time is evolving. Interplanetary and moon time coordination with our Earth timekeeping represents a frontier of technological and scientific innovation, and one that we're excited to explore.

We look forward to a productive and collaborative 2025 with partners, clients, and colleagues. We are excited to continue pushing the boundaries of time synchronisation technology, and we're excited to share our news about sub-nanosecond timekeeping advancements and further industry participation.

On behalf of the team at Hoptroff, we look forward to seeing you in the new year.
